Two organizations the Exchange stands behind
Both of them serve people who work in this industry, and both of them need things the trades happen to be good at.
David’s Refuge
The Syracuse Builders Exchange has partnered with David’s Refuge for a number of years. It provides respite, resources and support to parents and guardians caring for children with special needs or life-threatening medical conditions — so that the people doing that caring are refreshed and supported in it.
The reason it belongs on this site is simple: some of those caregivers work for member firms, and many of them do not know the organization exists. If someone at your company is caring for a dependent with special needs, David’s Refuge may be able to help them.
Make-A-Wish Central New York
Make-A-Wish Central New York grants wishes for children with critical illnesses across the fifteen-county region it serves.
A large share of those wishes are things this industry builds. Pools, tree houses, she-sheds, accessible play sets and room makeovers are among the most requested, and granting them takes electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete and foundations, drywall, painting, flooring, landscaping and project management. Every wish has a budget, and in-kind donations from contractors mean more wishes get granted.
