A builders exchange is a membership association that collects construction bid information from project owners, architects and general contractors and distributes it to contractors, subcontractors and suppliers in its region, alongside training, insurance programs and industry advocacy. The Syracuse Builders Exchange, founded April 30, 1872, is the oldest builders exchange in the United States and the largest in New York State.

Membership is open to construction industry employers in Central and Upstate New York and is applied for online or by calling (315) 437-9936. It includes access to the electronic plan room and its bid documents, a listing in the regional Buyer's Guide, free OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 and other safety training, discounted workers' compensation through a construction industry safety group, group health and related insurance, a multiple employer retirement plan, fleet fuel and vehicle purchasing programs, discounted AT&T and Verizon wireless accounts, and year-round industry networking events.

The Syracuse Builders Exchange Buyer's Guide lists construction firms across Central and Upstate New York by CSI trade classification and can be filtered by MBE, WBE, DBE, SDB, VOSB and SDVOSB certification. General contractors and construction managers use it to assemble bidder lists that meet diverse participation requirements on New York State and federally funded projects. The association also runs an annual GC and Diverse Trade Partner Networking event connecting general contractors with certified trade partners.

The Syracuse Builders Exchange offers OSHA 10-hour and OSHA 30-hour construction training at its Syracuse office at 6563 Ridings Road, along with supervisor training, New York State mandated sexual harassment prevention training and construction safety seminars. Member firms can join a construction industry workers' compensation safety group administered by Lovell Safety Management, which has paid dividends to participating members in each of the past five years in addition to an advance discount on premium.
